Dear Sister, I really enjoyed these cute pictures of Ellie! However, I must ask that you please comb her hair! She has the most beautiful hair I have ever seen, it is so shiny and gorgeous. It is your responsibility as her mom to style it each day! She is not even 2 and clearly still needs your help with this.

You are too funny sister... This little girl is out of control! She will not sit still for 1 minute to allow me to do her hair... let me tell you I do try....You have no idea HOW MANY TIMES A DAY I atttempt to put her cute hair in pig tails or in a clip...only to have her pull it out within five minutes. I am close to giving up!

Dear sister, Do not despair, and whatever you do, please do not give up. You have to learn to tame the mane, sis. It's an absolute must.

Wow!! You two have an AMAZING relationship to speak about such sensitive things!! Christie, I about fell out of my chair when I read your comment!! I admire your open and honest relationship. :)

Now Debbie, I TRULY did not notice Ellie's hair, she always looks so precious. With that said and if her hair truly bothers you here's some advice. I would usually NEVER give hair advice but it sounds like you've put a lot of effort into this.

1. You need to get Sam Goody (don't buy any other brand, they don't hold as well) ouchless silicon bands. They sell them everywhere like any drug store, most grocery stores, Target, Walmart, ... etc. Buy the medium size (this size is most important) and the smallest size (they look like bands for braces) if available.

2. Spray bottle

3. You need a good brush AND most important, a cheap black comb with a handle that ends in a point. I'll send pictures if that doesn't make sense. This will be how you make your parts and the comb is great for smoothing out the hair right before you put the elastic in.

4. Put on Ellie's favorite show. This is an important step because you want minimal head movement while doing her hair and at the same time, she'll be happy and too occupied to notice what's going on.

5. Put the elastics in tight and you won't have to redo her hair all day! NEVER just use a clip, you'll be chasing Ellie all day with that clip! If you have a clip you love, put it over the elastic. I wouldn't put a clip or bow in her hair for the first few times you do her hair. Adding a clip or a bow gives Ellie something to pull on which could cause her to pull part of her elastic out. Give her a few days to get used to the elastic (which is almost impossible for her to pull out if you do it tight enough) and then move onto clips and bows. I can't tell you how many friends have been in your same situation and I've yet to have a child who wouldn't allow me to do their hair using this strategy. Most importantly, you don't give Ellie a choice. You just try to make the experience pleasant for her and she really won't mind. You may include treats in this routine for the first few times if the movie or show is not enough.

My girls have gotten to the point where they love getting their hair done. If I don't put a bow in, Katie will follow me around asking for her bow until I tie one on. (By the way, I have a great way to keep bows from coming untied and lost too, it's saved me lots of ribbon!)

So there is it Debbie! A whole lot of unsolicited advice. I won't be surprised if I'm blocked from your blog the next time I try to visit.
